New hours for North Gate begin May 31 Published May 25, 2011 GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- New hours will be implemented for the North Gate beginning May 31. The change is necessary due to several factors including increased force protection conditions and a continued high operations tempo. While these new hours may be an inconvenience for some Team Goodfellow members, they are essential to ensuring our efficient use of resources, and the security and safety of our personnel. "Heightened security places extraordinary demands on our personnel," said Col. Thomas Geary, 17th Training Wing commander. "Changing the North Gate hours is a temporary necessity in light of current constraints and threats. My top priority is ensuring Goodfellow's safety and security." "I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding," Colonel Geary added. "We will continue to assess and adjust hours as necessary over the next few months." The new North Gate hours will be: 6:30 to 8 a.m., Monday-Friday (closed holidays/down days) inbound and outbound lanes open 4 to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday (closed holidays/down days) outbound lanes only (no entry) The Jacobson South Gate is Goodfellow's main gate, open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
