Sponsoring visitors onto Goodfellow Published Nov. 18, 2010 By Master Sgt. Nathan Sinning 17th Security Forces Squadron GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Do you know what your responsibilities are when bringing visitors or a vehicle on base? Visitors are not required to have a pass issued at the entry control point or Visitor Control Center; however, individuals without an authorized government identification card or pass must be physically sponsored and escorted at all times while on base. The authorized sponsor must be age 16 or older and be present at the Visitor Control Center or entry control point to verbally vouch for the visitor. The sponsor is responsible for all visitors while on base until they are outside the gate. Sponsors violating escort procedures may be subject to legal or administrative action. All visitors age 18 and older must possess a federal or state issued photo identification card while on base or they will not be allowed entry. There must be at least one person with an authorized identification card in each vehicle. This person can vouch for up to five occupants in the vehicle. If there are multiple vehicles being escorting, there must be someone in each vehicle with authorized base entry credentials. Keep in mind, security forces have the right to request identification from any or all occupants at any time. All vehicles being used for commercial purposes, such as taxis, food delivery and construction, must be searched and occupants must present identification prior to being allowed entry regardless of the occupants' status (active duty, retired or civilian). Active-duty military, retirees and family members with authorized military-issued identification credentials in their possession can enter the installation with government and non-commercial vehicles, non-commercial trailers, motor homes and rental vehicles without processing through the vehicle search area. However, if the vehicle is being used for commercial purposes it will be searched. For more information about this policy, call security forces at (325) 654-5905.
