It's almost that time again!

Exodus, the Air Education and Training Command holiday training stand-down, begins the evening of Dec. 21 and runs through Jan. 2, 2011. Jan. 3 is a family day and classes for the students will resume on Jan. 4.

"We hold this wing program to ensure that the students make it home and return safely from the holidays," said Ginger Moore, 17th Force Support Squadron community services flight chief. "Airline tickets can be purchased now at the Information Ticket and Travel office in the Event Center. The sooner you book a plane ticket, the cheaper the price."

Bus tickets to surrounding airports are on sale, too, she said.

Much team work has gone into planning this year's event. Students will have a wide choice of activities to do while waiting for their buses to depart for the surrounding airports. Check in for Exodus is from 3 - 6:30 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Carswell Fitness Center and students are encouraged to check in their luggage early and enjoy their free time prior to departure.

There will be a cook-out at the Crossroads and complimentary food at the Event Center. The library, movie theater, Base Exchange, bowling center and Burger King will have extended hours.

"In the past, more than 600 students have participated in this program," Ms. Moore said.

All students using the airport shuttle service should sign up by Dec. 15. The buses will be leaving and returning to Goodfellow in shifts, so ask the the Event Center staff for details.

Most establishments and the Crossroads will be open for the students remaining on base over the holidays, but may have reduced hours. The Airman and Family Readiness Center will offer several classes and have movie specials with popcorn.
