GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas - A stencil with the name of Chief Master Sgt. Richard “Dick” Etchberger is prepared so it can be sandblasted into the POW/MIA Memorial here Sept. 16. Chief Etchberger was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions on March 11, 1968, when he single-handedly held off an enemy attack on Mount Phou Pha Thia at Lima Site 85 only to be fatally wounded as he was being evacuated.
