Increased security changes ID card issue requirements Published Aug. 17, 2010 By Renetta A. Araiza 17th Force Support Squadron GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Due to increased identity theft and credential counterfeiting, the Department of Defense added more protection to the identity of its personnel with the Personnel Identity Protection program. PIP requires a person's identity to be verified with two forms of identification before issuing or reissuing a DOD identification card. One identifying document must be a valid state or federal government-issued picture ID. Some examples of acceptable forms of identity verification include a valid: · DOD-issued ID card · Driver's license with photograph · U.S. passport · Photo ID issued by state, federal or local agency · Foreign passport Individuals replacing a lost or stolen DOD ID card will need identity documents before they can receive a replacement. Those needing to create or change a record may need additional eligibility documentation such as: · Properly certified birth certificate · Properly certified marriage certificate · Properly certified final decree of divorce · Retirement orders for entitlement to retired pay · Certification from the Veterans Administration of 100 percent disabled status · Proof of college registration to continue benefits for family members ages 21-23 To schedule an appointment or for specific documentation requirements, call (325) 654-3428 or go to www.FamilySupportGoodfellow.org.
