Wounded Warrior Family Camp seeks applicants

  • Published
The National Military Family Association is accepting applications for the 2010 Operation Purple Healing Adventures program. This free family camp experience is for active duty or medically retired servicemembers who were wounded or experienced emotional trauma or illness related to service in Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom. Members of the National Guard and Reserve may be in either activated or drilling status, provided their injury was sustained while on active duty status.

Operation Purple Healing Adventures 2010 runs Aug. 23-27 at Olympic Park Institute in Port Angeles, Wash. Food, lodging and activities are provided to selected families at no cost. Shuttle buses are available to transport families to the camp site from two nearby military installations; however, families are responsible for their transportation to and from the pickup location.

Set in the heart of Olympic National Park on the shores of Lake Crescent, Olympic Park Institute offers families the opportunity to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Families will canoe on the lake, experience fly fishing and enjoy exploring the camp's surroundings with outdoor educators. All activities are fully accessible so the entire family can enjoy the camp experience. In addition to family-focused activities, parents can relax and can enjoy quiet time while their children participate in outdoor exploration with camp counselors.
