San Angelo offers free Pops Concert Published June 25, 2010 By 17th Medical Operations Squadron GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- With free fireworks and music, the 23rd Annual July 3rd Pops concert is a true patriotic event honoring current and past military personnel. It's also the perfect example of the collaborative and community-minded spirit shared between San Angelo and Goodfellow. The free concert well be held at the San Angelo River Stage on the Concho River off Chadbourne Street and is open to the public. Music by the San Angelo Symphony starts at 8:30 p.m., but gates will open at noon for early seating. Last year many people brought blankets to sit on while they enjoyed the concert. Goodfellow's Joint Service Color Guard will commemorate the event by posting the Colors and members from the 17th Training Group will march in formation bearing each of the 50 state flags to honor our military members. A free shuttle will run from Goodfellow to the concert starting at 7 p.m. with pick up at the Crossroads, building 3201. Parking around the River Stage will be limited, however shuttle buses will run to the River Stage with three pick up locations: the Shannon Clinic, the Shannon Employee Parking Lot at the Twohig Street entrance, and the Shannon Employee Parking Lot on the southwest corner of Magdelan Street and Beauregard Boulevard. For more information on the event, contact Tech. Sgt. Karen Nelson at 325-654-3050. For reserved seats, call the Information, Tickets and Tours office at 325-654-5249.
