The first class of senior enlisted personnel from across the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance community graduated from the Senior Enlisted-Intelligence Master Skills Course May 14.

Seventeen students - one master sergeant, 15 senior master sergeants and one chief master sergeant - made up the 315th Training Squadron's class which prepares ISR enlisted leaders to manage, train, equip and organize ISR forces to accomplish mission objectives.

The senior enlisted master skills training is made up of two courses: a 32-hour distance learning course followed by a two-week in-resident course here. The courses complete an ISR transformation objective levied by the Deputy Chief of Staff for ISR.

One recent graduate said the course is effective, timely and relevant training that other ISR managers would like to see in their professional development.

"The SE-IMSC has been one of the most effective and applicable professional development courses I have attended," said Senior Master Sgt. Frank Dailey, 1st Special Operations Support Squadron. "In my 24 years of service, this is the first course that has addressed specific tasks associated with my job and position. I only wished I had received it when I was selected for senior master sergeant and not had to wait until now."

Attendance to the course is required for senior master sergeants in the ISR community. The 315th TRS expects to deliver 10 classes per year to 160 senior enlisted leaders. To date, 33 students have graduated the course. Future SE-IMS courses will integrate with the Officer-IMSC to facilitate interaction between enlisted and officer ISR leaders. This integration will offer different perspectives on how to conduct ISR operations and it serves to develop relationships among ISR leaders. These training initiatives represent a significant leap forward in developing today's ISR leaders.
