AirForce.com films on Goodfellow Published May 21, 2010 By Robert D. Martinez 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The Air Force Recruiting Service visited here May 17 -21 to film technical school training and base lifestyle highlights as part of AirForce.com's, the Air Force recruiting website, content overhaul. Goodfellow is one of four training bases AFRS will visit for this project. With so much information available on the web, including social media and video sharing sites like Facebook and YouTube, AirForce.com wanted to increase its communication connection with viewers from a multi-sensory perspective -- sound and sight. Videos provide an exciting way to educate and inform potential recruits about the Air Force. An advertising agency, production crew and Air Force personnel made up the 20-person team. The first day was used to select people with speaking parts, locations and venues for filming. The rest of the week they captured footage of the tech school students, training instructors, subject matter experts, military training leaders and customers of various venues on base. The Enlisted Opportunities section of AirForce.com has various areas visitors can explore including careers, education, lifestyles and basic training. "We want the website to have more multimedia content for all the career fields much like the current Basic Military Training web page on AirForce.com," said Maj. Andra Szucs, Chief of Advertising Branch for AFRS. A majority of the filming concentrated on careers; training and trainees from crypto linguist, geospatial intelligence, technical applications and fire protection specialties. The lifestyle filming focused on the base chapel, the Event Center, Lake Nasworthy Recreation Camp and outdoor recreation, School Age Program, Arts and Crafts Center, Auto Skills Center and the base commissary. The Lifestyle section will eventually have videos of the more unique and best locations from many of the Air Force bases worldwide. Maj. Szucs said goal is to visit many more bases and have videos posted for every category on the website. "If we can provide as much information as possible on AirForce.com to inform potential Air Force recruits, with as many visual products as possible, then we think we increase the chance of them joining the Air Force" said Maj. Szucs. The AirForce.com website recruits new people into the Air Force and educates current personnel on other career opportunities. The site gets more than 860,000 visitors a month. The footage gathered at Goodfellow should be posted on the site by September. For more information visit wwwAirForce.com.
