The 316th Training Squadron Sharks' intramural basketball team marked a rather unusual distinction last week.

The team was single-handedly responsible for ensuring three teams are no longer unbeaten in this year's basketball standings, including themselves.

April 6, the Sharks found themselves on the short end of a 39-33 score at the hands of the 17th Communications Squadron. With their first loss of the season in hand, the 316 TRS spent the rest of the week ensuring none of the other league teams would be unbeaten as well.

On April 7, Tim Harris scored 17 points to lead his team to a 44-27 victory over a 17th Medical Group team that had won its first two games. The next day, Harris poured in 16 more points to lead the 316 TRS Sharks to a 41-32 victory over the previously unbeaten 315th Training Squadron Rattlers April 8.

The victory over the Rattlers pulled the Sharks into a tie for first place with the 315 TRS.

Army also claimed a share of the league lead at the end of last week's games. The soldiers, 3-1, bounced back from an overtime loss in the opening week by beating the 1st Responders 51-22, 316 TRS Beta Sharks 78-15, and 17 CS Bats 45-40.

The Bats also dropped a 36-29 decision to the 315 TRS last week, thanks to the Rattlers converting 11 points from the free-throw line. However, 17 CS pulled off one of the week's upsets by knocking off 316 TRS 39-33. Teriss Price had eight points for the Bats in the game while Harris had 17 points for the Sharks.

Navy/Marines, who were 2-0 after routing 17 Training Support Squadron Tigers 56-24 on April 5, also fell from the ranks of the unbeaten after a 59-54 loss to 17th Mission Support Group Junkyard Dawgs April 7. Michael Thompson and Andre Golden each dropped in 15 points for Junkyard Dawgs, who improved to 2-1 with the victory.

Also last week, the 315 TRS Rattlers bit the 316 TRS Beta Sharks 51-22. 315 TRS' Jacob Gjesvold led all scorers with nine points.

The 1st Responders, who lost their first two games by an average of 27 points, finally got into the win column April 6 with a 58-29 over 17 TRSS Tigers. Michael Givan had 15 points for Responders and Kenneth Hugdahl scored 11 for Tigers.

After being routed in their first three games, the Tigers cruised to their first victory April 8, winning 56-17 over 316 TRS Beta Sharks. Hugdahl led the 1-3 Tigers with 24 points while teammates Chadwick McGuire and Ralph Dawkins had 12 each. The Beta Sharks fell to 0-4 on the year.
