Rattlers roll to volleyball championship Published March 24, 2010 By Johnny Bustos 17th Force Support Squadron GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 315th Training Squadron Rattlers captured the base intramural volleyball championship by defeating the 312th Training Squadron Fire Dawgs 25-16 and 25-15 March 17. The Rattlers, who also won the regular-season title with a 13-1 record, swept through the double-elimination tournament with three straight wins. The 315 TRS kicked off the tournament March 15 by rolling over the 17th Mission Support Group Junkyard Dawgs 25-6 and 25-11. The Fire Dawgs, who finished the regular season in second place with a 12-2 record, also advanced to the second round by taking two out of three games against a stubborn 316th Training Squadron Sharks squad. With their backs against the wall, the Sharks struck back in the losers bracket March 16 and knocked the Junkyard Dawgs out of the tournament with 25-13 and 25-17 victories. Meanwhile, the Rattlers swept the Fire Dawgs 25-14 and 25-12 to earn a berth in the championship match. But the 312 TRS would not go quietly. The Fire Dawgs downed the determined Sharks 25-17 and 25-15 in the first match March 17 to earn another shot at the Rattlers in the championship game.
