More than 180 Goodfellow servicemembers braved the chilly Lake Nasworthy water Saturday, at the Goodfellow Recreation Camp, to participate in the Annual Polar Bear Swim.

The 316th Training Squadron won this year's challenge which involved participants in life jackets jumping in the lake and swimming for approximately 30 yards.

"February is a very slow month for outdoor activities," said Ms. Kelley Kazura, the Outdoor Recreation director. "Initially we came up with this event to get our servicemembers out of the dorms to have some fun. This was the ninth year running and it has turned into a huge squadron challenge."

Ms. Kazura said they hold these events because they love to see leadership and base personnel having fun participating in the activities.

"We love what we do," said Ms. Kazura. "The swimmers thought it was crazy but without a doubt had a blast. We are grateful for the tremendous support from our leadership who help make events like this a success"
