2009 17th Training Wing Annual Award Winners Published Feb. 3, 2010 By Robert. D. Martinez 17th Training Wing/Public Affairs SAN ANGELO, Texas -- The 17th Training Wing honored its finest Tuesday night during a banquet at the McNease Convention Center, San Angelo. The annual awards program recognizes outstanding professionals for their significant contributions to the wing, the community and mission. The program is a joint event honoring both civilians and service members of the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines in 16 categories. Command Chief Master Sgt. Brye McMillon, Air University, Maxwell AFB, Ala., was this year's guest speaker. Chief Master Sgt. McMillon shared a few personal stories, spoke on future foundation building and how professionals should conduct and produce professionally. There were over 50 nominees this year with honors going to many of the well deserving including the 17th Force Support Squadron for Unit of the Year; Master Sgt. Jeffrey Baxter who earned First Sergeant of the Year and Bryn Crandell recognized as the Civilian Supervisor Category II of the Year. The various prestigious category awards were presented by Col. Thomas Geary, 17 TRW commander and Chief Master Sgt. Frederick Ricker, 17 TRW command chief. Top Goodfellow Soldiers, Sailors and Marines were honored as well with Staff Sgt. Steven Jeter earning Army NCO of the Year; Sgt.Travis Godley taking Marine Corps Detachment Noncommissioned Officer of the Year and 1st Class Petty Officer Terrone Wolliston, honored as Sailor of the Year. Awards were presented to the Army by Lt. Col. Bichson Bush, 344th Military Intelligence Battalion commander and 1st Sgt. Raymond Ramsey, 344 MIB, Bravo Company. Capt. Douglas March, MCD commander, presented awards to the Marines and Lt. Lonnie Griffith, Center for Information Dominance Detachment officer in charge and Master Chief Paul Zimmerman, CID Navy senior enlisted leader, presented the award to the Sailor of the Year.
