Martina McKoy 17th Training Wing, Legal Office GOODFELLOW AFB, Texas -- All active duty members assigned to Goodfellow interested in having their tax return prepared and electronically filed for free should contact their Unit Tax Advisor. The UTAs will prepare individual tax returns from their offices. Please contact your UTA for an appointment. The UTAs are limited to individual income tax assistance. They are unable to provide advice or assistance concerning privately owned businesses and complex tax issues. However, taxpayers may fill out a Schedule C (self employment taxes) and bring it in with the rest of their tax documents for electronic filing. All Others: This year, the centralized Goodfellow Base Tax Center will be open by appointment only to retirees, dependents and those without UTAs. The Goodfellow Base Tax Center will be open Feb. 3, through April 15. The Tax Center is located in the base library, bldg. 712, and will be staffed by volunteer income tax representatives. To make an appointment, call the legal office at 654-3203. Do-It-Yourself: Additionally, free tax filing service is available at http://www.militaryonesource.com. Check the website for eligibility information. Bring the following (as applicable) when meeting with your tax advisor: - Military I.D. - All W-2 Forms - HUD-1 Forms - Proof of child care expenses - All 1099 INT and DIV Forms - Power of attorney if necessary (go to www.IRS.gov) - Form 1098, mortgage interest statement - Any other tax-related documents you may have - Receipts for deductible expenses if itemizing deductions - Social Security cards (you/spouse and/or dependents) - Proof of bank account (voided check or deposit slip) if direct deposit is requested - First year Airmen need to know if a parent is claiming them as a dependent - Last year's tax return if available List of unit tax advisors: Wing Staff/17FSS/CES/CONS/SVS/MSG Mr. Errol Sanders Staff Sgt.
