DePLAYment tags available Published Jan. 8, 2010 By Robert D. Martinez 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AFB, Texas -- The Goodfellow Airman Family and Readiness Flight is offering DePLAYment tags to families of deployed members through July 31, 2010, as part of the Year of the Air Force Family. Eligible families can get their tags from the Goodfellow Readiness office located in the Airman Family and Readiness Flight, building 145. Once the tag-pass holder registers their tags, they can qualify for discounted and even free family programs on base for the family left at home during deployment and 90-days upon return from deployment of the member. The Air Force Services Agency furnished the tags and created My Air Force Life program and web site www.MyAirForceLife.com to help military members stay connected and informed as part of the Year of the Air Force Family. The tags are just another way to help families stay engaged and save some money at the same time. "The tags look like dog tags and can be placed on your key ring, much like the ones used at stores in the United States to indicate a frequent shopper," said Ms. Carol Sudy, Air Force Services Agency marketing specialist. Master Sgt. Brandon O'Neil, Goodfellow Readiness Noncommissioned Officer, who is in charge of the program here said that 38 tags have been given out so far and estimates over 70 eligible families have not received their tags yet. "The DePLAYment tags are available to all eligible Soldiers, Sailors and Marines as well as Airmen assigned to Goodfellow," said Master Sgt. O'Neil. "The tags act as a daily reminder to families that they are not alone during their spouse's deployment." Master Sgt. O'Neil said "This is definitely the right way for the Air Force to show support to families of all deployed members." "An Airman's deployment is really a family's deployment. Airmen expect us to provide a stable environment for them and their families. And, doing so is part of our heritage and culture," Secretary of the Air Force Michael B. Donley said during his speech to the Air Force Sergeants Association in August. For more information on the program, go online to http://www.myairforcelife.com or call Master Sgt. O'Neil at 654-5488.
