The Protestant Traditional Worship service experienced something new as the service moved into the new chapel. Rev. Floyd Crider, Army retiree, Central High School counselor and ordained minister, became the pastor for the service. Maj. Sam Tucker, senior protestant chaplain Goodfellow, stated that hiring Rev. Crider would allow the chapel to focus more chapel resources toward student ministry. Student ministry has been identified by base-wide surveys, feedback from commanders and chapel staff as the number one ministry need and opportunity.

Chaplain Tucker commented that it was a rare privilege to be at Goodfellow where students come for training. He said that the chapel plans to increase the chaplains' presence at their Airmen Ministry Center called Crossroads. The students go to Crossroads in higher numbers during the weekend so the chapel wants to free up the chaplains' times so they can be present more during the weekends.

Chaplain Tucker added that the service would adapt to another need impacting the worship time. The service will begin at 11 a.m., Jan. 3, 2010.
