Soccer Post Season Starts Published Dec. 1, 2009 By Johnny Bustos 17th Force Support Squadron GOODFELLOW AFB, Texas -- Six intramural soccer teams began a three-day battle for base bragging rights as the intramural playoffs got underway Monday. The 315th Training Squadron Sidewinders drew first blood in the single-elimination tournament by blanking the fifth-seed Army squad, 2-0, while the 17th Mission Support Squadron Junk Yard Dawgs escaped the Navy/Marine team 3-2. The 315th Training Squadron Rattlers earned the top seed in this year's post-season tournament by virtue of the Sharks' 1-1 draw against the Sidewinders in the last match of the regular season. Had the Sharks won the match, they would have overtaken the Rattlers for the number one seed in the playoffs. The fourth-seeded Sidewinders took down the regular-season champion 315 TRS Rattlers on Wednesday. The No. 3 seeded MSG Junk Yard Dawgs pushed past the second-ranked 316 TRS Sharks after the all-315 TRS showdown match. The winners of Wednesday's semi-finals, MSG Junk Yard Dogs and the 315 TRS Sidewinders were scheduled to face each other for the base championship last night. See next week's newspaper for details of the base championship battle. 2009 Soccer Standings TEAM WON LOST TIES TOTAL POINTS PLACE 315 Rattlers 9 2 1 28 1st 316 Sharks 9 1 2 27 2nd MSG JYD 6 3 3 21 3rd 315 Sidewinders 5 5 2 17 4th Army 4 7 1 13 5th Navy/Marines 4 7 1 12 6th 17 TRSS Tigers 0 12 0 0 7th
