New Navy Chief Petty Officers pinned at Goodfellow Published Sept. 25, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Anne Gathua 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AFB, Texas -- Goodfellow hosted the 2009 Navy Chief Petty Officer Pinning Ceremony Wednesday, at the Event Center. Chief Petty Officer Steven Vlasich, Chief Petty Officer Jose Suarez and Chief Petty Officer David Norman were pinned in the ceremony presided over by Lt. Ronnie Griffith, Center for Information Dominance Detachment Officer in Charge. Chief Petty Officer Stanley Thrush was pinned in a seperate ceremony. The pinning ceremony was a closing event of a six-week training evolution that all newly selected Navy chief petty officers are encouraged to undergo. The induction process includes exercises that stress teambuilding, leadership, mentorship, loyalty, communication, problem solving, upholding standards and professionalism. During this process, the chief selectees are tested, tried, and ultimately accepted as members of the Chief Petty Officers' Mess. Chaplain Todd Leathermon provided the invocation.
