Flag Football Team Makes Goodfellow History Published Sept. 25, 2009 By Johnny Bustos 17th Force Support Squadron GOODFELLOW AFB, Texas -- Rodrick Dixon scored two touchdowns and Chance Borgeson ran back an interception for another score to power the Goodfellow Hawks varsity flag football team to a 25-0 victory over DK&S Motors at Texas Bank Sports Complex Sunday. The game marked the first time that a flag football team from Goodfellow has participated in the San Angelo Recreation Open Division and The Texas Amateur Athletic Federation. The Hawks scored their first touchdown on their opening possession when quarterback Todd Hadley hit Dixon from 18 yards out. The point-after attempt failed, but the Hawks led 6-0. In their next possession the Hawks rolled the dice on a fourth and five and came out with a first down. Two plays later Hadley again connected with Dixon for a 5-yard score to give the Hawks a 12-point lead. While the Hawks were rolling offensively, the defense also came up big late in the first half. On the final play of the first half, the Mustangs went for the long ball but Borgeson intercepted the ball and ran it back 50 yards and a touchdown. Dixon scooted in from the 4-yard line for the extra point as the Hawks' went into halftime with a 19-0 advantage. The Hawks' defense continued its stifling presence in the second half. Sharad White intercepted a Mustang pass and ran it back to the 19-yard line. A couple of plays later, Hadley connected with Anthony Brown for a 35-yard scamper for the final score of the game. The Hawks, who are comprised of permanent party members, students and civilians, will compete against seven other city teams Sunday afternoons at the Texas Bank Sports Complex.
