Goodfellow volunteers help recycle during concert Published Sept. 11, 2009 By Master Sgt. Kelly Bales 316th Training Squadron GOODFELLOW AFB, Texas -- Ten volunteers from Goodfellow led recycling efforts during the 2009 Unite & Conquer concert at the West Texas Boys Ranch. Over 8,000 people attended the music-filled day enjoying multi-award winning recording artists like Third Day, Pillar, Skillet, and more. With such a large crowd, thousands of empty bottles and cans would have filled the dumpsters and ultimately the landfill had it not been for the "green" team. The Goodfellow members worked over 18 hours to ensure recycling containers were available for the patrons. In the end, the team removed an excess of over 600 pounds of plastics and aluminum, nearly tripling the amount from last year's event. During the concert, the organizers gave a "shout out" to all the military members, thanking each and everyone for their service and also gave a "shout out" to the recycling team for doing such a great job.
