Army Community Service Outstanding Volunteer Published July 2, 2009 By Master Sgt. Thomas Niemczycki 314th Training Squadron PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif -- It was a night of recognition for outstanding military and civilian volunteers at the Ft. Ord Army Community Service Center. At the annual U.S. Army Garrison Presidio of Monterey Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony, an Air Force family received the Outstanding Volunteer Family Award. Staff Sgt. Mark Brown, a Chinese Basic student assigned to 314th Training Squadron, his wife Jennifer, and their four sons Dean, Beck, Stanton, and Malone, were recognized for their extensive assistance through volunteering and successfully running various Ft. Ord Chapel programs. The Brown family made an impact in all facets of Chapel events, including music orchestration, audio-visual presentation, preschool programs, and holiday events. When asked about their achievements, Brown said, "I'm just glad we were able to help out."
