For the past four days, Goodfellow Air Force Base's master sergeant selectees have been given a glimpse into the world of a senior non-commissioned officer.

Twenty-three soon-to-be master sergeants took part in an annual ritual called the Senior NCO Orientation Course, which began Monday.

"It gives these individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the things they will encounter with their new leadership role," said Master Sgt Rye Bavin, 17th Training Wing career adviser.

During the course, the class was briefed by several wing agencies, received personal insight from several key enlisted leaders and even relearned team building skills during the "Junkyard Wars" exercise.

The course also gave the Air Force's lastest batch of senior enlisted leaders a chance to "meet people from different organizations and get a refresher on a number of things," said Tech. Sgt. Alicia Wilder, 17th Civil Engineering Squadron, who attended the course.

The entire class walked away with heads full of new knowledge.

The course culminated with an induction ceremony Thursday night, welcoming in the new senior non-commissioned officers.
