The 17 CES Fire and Emergency Services also won the AETC DOD Fire Prevention Program of the Year for 2007. They will go on to compete at the Air Force level. The fire department responded to more than 250 emergencies in the past year on base and in the local community. They organized the base's two Fire Prevention Week parades and activities, helping to raise awareness of fire dangers on Goodfellow, and worked closely with the Louis F. Garland DOD Fire Academy to stay highly trained and ready. "I'm extremely proud of all the dedicated individuals at 17 CES Fire and Emergency Services," said Col. Ada Conlan, 17th Mission Support Group commander. "It is appropriate our fire professionals are recognized for their dedicated efforts to protect the men and women of Goodfellow Air Force Base. I'm glad our fire department is being recognized for what it is: the best small fire department in AETC."
