Dignity and honor at the JROTC Drill Meet

This past Saturday, the Junell Center parking lot at Angelo State University rang with the sounds of cadence and in-step boots as Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 847 held their annual Junior ROTC Drill meet.

Seven schools participated in this year's event, but top honors went to Lubbock High School's Navy Junior ROTC program took first-place honors in the competition as well as six individual categories.

Participating in this year's event were teams from Central High School, Lakeview High School, Montwood High School, Samuel Clemens High School, Robert E. Lee High School (Midland), Lubbock High School and Caprock High School.

The JROTC groups were graded on performance and military bearing in ten categories: armed inspection, armed regulation, armed exhibition, unarmed inspection, unarmed regulation, unarmed exhibition, color guard (two categories), individual drill and tandem drill.
