Air Fiesta '08 -- "Airpower over West Texas"-- is just 22 days away! The Air Fiesta committee has been extremely busy over the last several weeks, coordinating with performers, working with local media, practicing emergency actions, managing contracts, and establishing critical ground support infrastructure. There's a tremendous amount of work yet to be done, and we need your help.

Currently, we have 140 volunteers from across Goodfellow, Civil Air Patrol, and ASU AFROTC for the welcome team, VIP tents, information booth, and shuttle services. Thanks for the outpouring of support. However, we still need another 120 volunteers for security, set-up, and tear-down. Please contact Tech. Sgt. Frank Carreras at 654-5243 to join the Air Fiesta team!

When we say "Airpower over West Texas," we mean it! Air Fiesta '08 will be phenomenal. If you haven't had an opportunity to see the line-up of demonstrations we have on tap for March 15th, take a look at http://goodfellow.schultzairshows.com. I guarantee you'll be impressed.

We'll be hosting performers who remind us of our proud heritage as Airmen. Air Fiesta will feature a Warbird Flight that includes a C-47 Skytrain, P-40 Warhawk and F-4U Corsair. We'll see an F-15C Eagle and P-47 Thunderbolt Heritage Flight and a four-ship of trainers that hearken back to Goodfellow's early days. The Commemorative Air Force B-25 Mitchell fly-by, of course, will pay tribute to the intrepid Airmen of the 17th Bombardment Wing who flew in Doolittle's famous raid.

We'll also see performers who remind us of our combat power as the world's greatest Air Force, including the F-15C Eagle West Coast Demonstration Team and the peerless U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. And we'll bear witness to aerial displays that are just plain entertaining--like the J3C Cub, Pitts S2B, and T-28 Trojan aerobatic demonstrations.

The Air Fiesta '08 committee is looking for a student to sing the National Anthem as the Liberty Jump Team delivers the American flag to Mathis Field. Auditions will be held at the Event Center Officer's Lounge, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Contact 1st Lt Philip Lampley at 654-3318 if interested in auditioning.

You won't want to miss this historic event as the Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines of Goodfellow Air Force Base--together with the people of the Concho Valley--come out to Mathis Field to celebrate Air Fiesta '08!
