The 17th Services Division hosted a Super Bowl party Feb. 3 at the Event Center.

More than 200 people were there to watch this year's National Football Conference champions, the New York Giants, pull what will arguably be considered as one of the biggest upsets in sports history.

The Giants, who were the fifth seed in this year's NFL playoffs, defeated the heavily favored American Football Conference champions, the New England Patriots, 17 to 14 to become Super Bowl XLII Champions. The Pats were 18-0 till their loss at the big show. The Super Bowl is the National Football League's ultimate, annual championship game and is usually the single most-watched sporting event of the year.

The atmosphere at the center resembled that of a sports bar. Balloons and sports memorabilia bearing the logos of the two competing teams were used as decorations throughout the place. Every TV was turned to the game and one could hear the cheers and grunts of fans after almost every big play.

Guests were treated to a cake which featured helmets representing the two teams playing in Super Bowl XLII. Guests were also invited to take part in a free, no-money, football-game pool for Super Bowl XLII prizes such as an inflatable chair, t-shirts, and coffee mugs. Prizes also included gifts certificates provided by the Army Air Force Exchange Service.
