2007 Fire Prevention Week

The Goodfellow Air Force Base Fire Department conducted a parade through Lanham Housing area Oct. 6.

The parade featured fire trucks, police cars and classic cars. Sparky the Fire Prevention Week mascot and Casey the Colt from the San Angelo Colts minor league baseball team were on hand to greet spectators.

The parades were part of several activities and events coordinated by the base fire department in observance of Fire Prevention Week.

An open house and firefighter obstacle course are scheduled for today. Both events will take place at the base fire station. The open house will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the obstacle course challenge will run from noon to 5 p.m.

Fire Prevention Week events will conclude with a Fire Safety Open House at the Base Exchange parking lot Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

The various events and activities were part of the fire department's intention to raise awareness on how to prevent fires.
