Ivan Alvarado and Tyler Breske hold the awards they won after competing in the half-marathon at the 11th Annual United States Air Force Marathon, which took place Sept. 14 - 15 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The two airmen first class were part of a 10-man team from the 311th Training Squadron, which competed at the marathon. The 311 TRS is a geographically separated unit of the 17th Training Wing, and is located at the Presidio of Monterey, Calif. Alvarado missed finishing first by four seconds. However, his time of 1 hour and 12 minutes allowed him finish first in his age bracket, 25-29 years old, second overall for the half-marathon. Breske was not far behind Alvardo. He came in second in his age bracket, 19 years old and under, with a time of 1 hour and 29 minutes in the half marathon. “It was a big accomplishment for our team to have these Airmen come back to the squadron with such a great achievement,” said Staff Sgt. Henry Serrano III, team Manager. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Henry Serrano III)
