Carrying the Torch Published Aug. 27, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Stephen Musal Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy was a hotter-than-usual location Aug. 15-17 as Tech. Sgt. Matthew Hannen, a photographer for Torch Magazine, spotlighted the fire training which takes place daily here at Goodfellow. The fire academy is host to roughly 15 advanced fire protection courses and an intensive Fire Protection Apprentice course. Students from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force, as well as fire protection civilians, are instructed at the fire academy. Torch Magazine is Air Education and Training Command's bimonthly safety magazine, featuring safety-related stories from all across AETC. The article on the fire academy will appear in the September / October issue of Torch.
