Goodfellow Rising Six split creates two new organizations Published Aug. 27, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Luis Loza Gutierrez Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The Goodfellow Rising Six, one of Goodfellow Air Force Base's local professional military organizations, is no more. The organization officially came to an end after a meeting attended by approximately 70 Airmen, which took place Aug. 16 at the Goodfellow Event Center. The idea for the split came from Chief Master Sgt. Paul Moreau, 17th Training Wing command chief master sergeant. "The decision to divide the Rising Six may have come as a surprise to some," said Chief Moreau. "However, I encourage all those affected by the change to view this as an opportunity to create, develop and strengthen the professional relationships with other servicemembers within their own ranks." The Rising Six is now divided into two groups. One group will consist of junior noncommissioned officers in the grades of E-5 and E-6. The other will consist of Airmen in the grades of E-1 through E-4. "We (E5s and E6s) have decided on a name. Our organization will be The 56 Club," said Tech. Sgt. Joy William, former Goodfellow Rising Six president. "We decided to keep the current officers we have now until elections in January," Sergeant William added. "It seemed that there was a lot of enthusiasm for an Airman-oriented organization," said Master Sgt. Angela Shultz in a message to Chief Moreau. The Airmen who attended the meeting elected their officers and made several plans for their first meeting. The group, currently referring to themselves as the Airmen's Council, have set a date for their first meeting. It is scheduled to take place Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Goodfellow Event Center. "At our first meeting we will be voting on names for the organization, the bylaws and constitution," said Airman 1st Class Sabrina Reyes, Airmen's Council vice president. "Also, during this meeting we will establish membership dues. We will also discuss plans for a coin design contest, future fund raising events and how the committees will be set up. We encourage all permanent party Airmen to attend and bring up any more ideas at the meeting," Airman Reyes concluded.
