The annual pre-deployment picnic was held at the Goodfellow Event Center on July 20. The event welcomed deployees as well as their family and friends.

Goodfellow's local Senior NCO professional military organization, the Goodfellow Top 3 , helped plan and organize the event.

More than 200 people were in attendance to enjoy the picnic style menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks.

Children of the deployees were presented with certificates of appreciation and backpacks full of goodies by squadron commanders. Col. Merrily Madero, 17th Training Wing vice commander, was on hand to send out a few words of appreciation to the deployees and their family members.

"It meant a lot that this picnic was put together," said Senior Airman Brandi Giles of the 17th Contracting Squadron. "I am totally pumped and ready to deploy!"
