More than 150 people took part in the event. Approximately 60 of them were competitors. The size of the attendance at this year's triathlon was proof of the events continuing success. "We had nine teams last year, and we had 29 teams this year--this is a 300 percent increase from the previous year," said Master. Sgt. Reggie McKnight, Mathis Fitness Center superintendent. The competition featured three separate heats as competitors competed in three separate races at three different locations. The triathlon consisted of a 1,000-meter-swim at McGarr Pool, a 3-mile-run at the base track and a 6-mile-bike ride on Perimeter Road. "The purpose of the event was to promote good physical fitness, positive unit morale and camaraderie through friendly competition," said Master. Sgt. McKnight. All triathlon competitors were given a t-shirt for their participation in the event. The following is a list of the top individuals and teams from the competition. Times were recorded by hours, minutes and seconds.
