344 MIBn celebrates in style Published June 22, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Luis Loza Gutierrez Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 344th Military Intelligence Battalion celebrated the 232nd birthday of the United States Army Saturday at the C.J. Davidson Conference Center at Angelo State University. "The evening was a success," said 1st Lt. Barbara Monge, one of the event coordinators. "Everyone looked like they were having a nice time, especially those who decided to dance." Approximately 450 guests attended the celebration. The event featured the traditional presentation of the colors, an invocation and the singing of the national anthem by Army Staff Sgt. Timothy Vega. The event featured a streamer ceremony in which 14 student Soldiers from the battalion showcased the rich, illustrious heritage of their service by wearing uniforms from different eras of the Army's history. Guests rendered toasts to the United States and the men and women of its armed forces who help keep it safe. Guests raised their glasses toward the vacant table in honor of all American servicemembers who are missing in action, those who have been made prisoners of war and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. The event also featured two films emphasizing the service's "Army Strong" motto and the training Soldiers go through at Goodfellow Air Force Base. The event concluded with closing remarks by Lt. Col. Kemp Chester, 344 MIBn commander, followed by music and dancing.
