Fun in the sun: the 2007 Daddy / Daughter Dance Published June 22, 2007 By Staff Sgt. Angela Malek Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The Goodfellow Event Center was the place to be on June 14; that is, if you were a daddy or a daughter. The annual Daddy/Daughter Dance was sponsored by the 17th Services Division. "We (Event Center) have been programming the Daddy/Daughter dance for the last four years...with the merge of the club and community center, both the Mother/Son and Daddy/Daughter dances have been very successful," said Kelley Kazura, event coordinator. This year's dance had a beach theme entitled "Fun in the Sun." The girls dressed up for an evening of fun with their "Prince Charming," also known as Daddy. They were greeted with elegant wrist corsages to wear and Shirley Temples to drink. Dinner and dancing were enjoyed by the couples who attended. Smiles were abundant everywhere. Daughters looked at their fathers with admiration while daddies gazed at their daughters with pride. It was obvious to see who holds daddy's heart in their hand. The event drew positive comments from guests. "The event was a very well planned and classy," said Senior Master Sgt. Robert Martinez from the 17th Communication Squadron. "My daughter and most of the other daughters had a great time." The daddies and daughters ended the evening with a slow dance, which Sergeant Martinez described as "emotional." "We should have more events like this one," said Sergeant Martinez.
