(From left to right): Army Pvts. Anson Sokoloff, Alysha Rivera, and Brian Begeal, as well as Pfc. Verna Milner and Pvt. Wesley Arnold, all student Soldiers from the 344th Military Intelligence Battalion, help put bags of food into shopping carts June 15 at the Fellowship Hall. The carts were used to distribute free meals to hundreds of people around Goodfellow Air Force Base. The Soldiers were part of a group of 17 student Soldiers and five student Airmen who helped prepare 1,000 bagged-meals for the 2007 Picnic with the Padres, a bi-annual base appreciate event sponsored by the 17th Training Wing Chapel Office. The picnic is customarily held in conjunction with the Annual Army vs. Air Force Coed Softball Game or the Army vs. Navy flag football game, held later in the year. A recognition ceremony for recently-deployed servicemembers from Goodfelow usually takes place during a break in the softball game. This year’s picnic was postponed due to inclement weather. The date and time of the rescheduled events will be available at a later date. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Luis Loza Gutierrez)
