Laughlin Adventurers return Published May 7, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Stephen Musal Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Bearing t-shirts labeling them as members of Goodfellow's extreme team or relay team, a group of Airmen made their way down to Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, to compete in the third annual Laughlin Adventure Race Saturday. The race consists of a 26-mile bike ride, eight miles of running and two miles of rafting. A relay team breaks the course up into three portions, with different team members tackling each event. The extreme team, on the other hand, takes on the grueling race in its entirety. This year's extreme team consisted of Kelmer Rapisora, Benjamin Passons, Joel Hansen and Michael Gonzolez. The extreme team finished 13th out of the sixty teams with a time of four hours and 15 minutes. The relay team consisted of Stacie Myers, Julio Brito, Harlan Fronek, William "Superman" Roberts, Erin Crandall and Rebecca Andrade from Goodfellow, as well as Matt Melvin from Lackland Air Force Base. The relay team finished 19th out of 60 with a time of four hours and 22 minutes. "We proved to ourselves that we were capable of far more than we thought," said Myers, the captain of the relay team. "We're ready to exceed our personal goals as well."
