During the 2024 promotion cycle, 503 out of 2,275 eligible personnel were selected to join the top 1% of the enlisted force. The 17th Training Wing celebrated three of those chief master sergeant selects at the Powell Event Center, Nov. 18.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed Public Law 85-422 on May 20, 1958, officially creating the ranks of senior master sergeant and chief master sergeant. Since then, promotion to the rank of chief master sergeant means an enlisted member has reached the highest level of the enlisted force and is now responsible for translating leaders’ direction into specific tasks and goals while also developing the next generation of Airmen.

“The 17th Training Wing is so lucky to have three chief master sergeant selects who have all had amazing careers taking care of Airmen,” said Col. Angelina Maguinness, 17th TRW commander. “They deserve the honor of entering the one percent of the United States Air Force. We are lucky to have their leadership, and I look forward to what they are going to do in terms of building and mentoring the next generation.”

Congratulations to the 17th TRW selectees on becoming the newest chief master sergeants!
