GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 17th Training Wing hosted its annual Christmas Tree Lighting event at the base parade field, Dec. 6.
Goodfellow has proudly celebrated its Christmas Tree Lighting for 36 years as it marks the joyful start of the holiday season.
The celebration welcomed service members and their families, along with participants from the Honorary Commander Program and other base partners, who joined in to celebrate the occasion.
During the event, children and their families participated in various festive activities, such as decorating cookies, writing letters to Santa, and capturing memorable photos with St. Nick–who made a grand entrance on a fire truck.
Adding to the holiday cheer, squadrons from across the 17th Training Wing came together to showcase their creativity in the Christmas Card and Golf Cart Decorating contests. The Office of Special Investigations Det. 408 took home the top prize in the Christmas Card contest, while the 17th Contracting Squadron claimed victory in the Golf Cart competition.
Though Texas may feel far from a winter wonderland, the festive spirit left everyone excited for the holiday celebrations to come.
