GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 533rd Training Squadron, Detachment 1, held a change of command ceremony at the Powell Event Center, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas, June 10.
The 533rd TRS, Detachment 1 welcomed incoming commander, U.S. Space Force Maj. Uiri Han and said farewell to Maj. Benjamin Tillman; thanking him for his dedication and commitment to the unit for the past two years.
“I leaned on you all a lot. You put in a lot of very hard work,” said Tillman. “I just want to say thank you, because I could not do my job without you. Our service as a whole is stronger, our DoD as a whole is stronger and more operationally prepared because of the passion and energy you put in.”
The 533rd TRS, Detachment 1 at Goodfellow AFB is a geographically separated unit that belongs to the Space Force Training and Readiness Command, headquartered at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
“I am deeply humbled to be taking on the role of your third detachment commander,” said Han. “This is not only a responsibility I take to heart, but one I am privileged to uphold. Together, we will work to uphold the Guardian ethos, fortifying the values that make us not just exceptional service members, but guardians who are committed to something greater than ourselves.”
In keeping with a military tradition dating back to 18th-century Prussia, the 533rd TRS Detachment 1 Change of Command ceremony was officiated by Lt. Col. Adam P. Jodice, 533rd TRS commander, who received the guidon from Tillman before passing it to Han, signifying the formal transition of leadership.
