GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 17th Logistics Readiness Squadron conducted its change of command ceremony in the vehicle maintenance bay at Goodfellow Air Force Base on June 13.
The 17th LRS is responsible for the Air Force’s largest firefighting vehicle fleet and supports more than 4,000 firefighters.
The 17th LRS welcomed Maj. Charles D. Crooks Jr., incoming commander, and thanked Lt. Col. Jose A. Quintanilla, outgoing commander, for his hard work and dedication.
“Thank you all once again for being here today,” said Quintanilla. “Mighty Krakens one last time, it was an absolute honor for me to serve in the role of commander.”
The 17th LRS provides logistics planning, deployment readiness, personal property, passenger travel, cargo distribution, materiel management, ground fuels, munitions, ground transportation and vehicle management services in support of the 17th Training Wing mission.
“My dedication to our mission and belief in what we can accomplish together will not waver,” said Crooks. “As your commander, I promise to lead with integrity, respect and the personal commitment required to help our team and our mission succeed together, we will foster a culture of trust, accountability and growth.”
The 17th LRS supports the 17th TRW mission by ensuring logistics for the training of more than 14,000 firefighting, and intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance warriors per year.
