Raider Partnerships Demonstrate Community Commitment

Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo Independent School District, Howard College and Angelo State University signed community partnership agreements during a ceremony at the LeGrand Visitors and Alumni Center, June 18. This ceremony formalizes and reaffirms several Memorandums of Understanding with key partners guided by Goodfellow AFB's "One Community Approach." 

These MOUs demonstrate a concrete commitment to ongoing collaboration between Goodfellow AFB and key community partners that provide a framework for streamlined communication, resource sharing, and joint initiatives. 

“Today we’re gathering not just to sign documents but affirming a commitment to education, to service and to our community,” said Ashley Warren, ASU chief of staff. “We’re proud to be here today with our partners to form an alliance and memorandum of understanding.” 

The ongoing partnerships between the San Angelo community and Goodfellow AFB have generate widespread benefits, enhancing educational opportunities and cultivating innovation within the region. The base’s "One Community Approach" recognizes that Goodfellow's success is linked to the prosperity and well-being of the San Angelo community. 

The MOUs that were signed during the ceremony included the renewal of the ASU Doolittle Speaker Series, Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence, Doolittle Scholars and Transfer of Defense Acquisition University Credit agreements. These agreements will help build pathways to positive growth within all community partnerships. 

In addition, a new agreement between ASU and Goodfellow AFB allows students completing U.S. Air Force enlisted intelligence training in qualifying Air Force Specialty Codes to receive credit hours towards a bachelor’s degrees in ASU’s Department of Security Studies and Criminal Justice. 

“We are reaffirming a number of partnerships that we’ve had over several years with ASU and our SAISD and Howard College partners,” said Col. Angelina McGuiness, 17th Training Wing commander. “We are so grateful to live in a community like this that takes care of our service members, their families and gives us opportunities to be apart of this great community.”
