GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- U.S. Air Force Gen. Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and U.S. Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, David Isom, USN, visited Goodfellow AFB, July 28, to see the intelligence and firefighting training mission of the 17th Training Wing in action.
Caine and Isom began their visit meeting 17th Training Wing leaders and receiving a brief on the deterrence and national security mission the wing executes and the impact it has across the joint force. General Caine emphasized to those in attendance the importance of cross-branch unit cohesion and building stronger joint integration to better prepare our Joint Force for future conflicts.
After the brief, Caine and Isom proceeded to the Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy for a basewide All-Call, followed by an Aircraft-Response fire training showcase where the Chairman was able to see and participate in elements of the basic and advanced fire protection training that occurs here for all armed services across the DoD.
To conclude the visit, CJCS and SEAC visited Operation Lone Star, the 315th Training Squadron’s capstone exercise. OLS is an intelligence training capstone exercise focused on training future warfighters to counter growing threats. Chairman Caine and the SEAC were also able to visit a 316th Training Squadron Cryptologic Language Analyst classroom interacting with students and instructors while experiencing the training they receive here.
