Spouses club paints and invites new members Published March 23, 2015 By Robin Bavin SAN ANGELO, Texas -- SAN ANGELO, Texas -- The Goodfellow Combined Spouses Club met at Vino Dipinte Art Gallery for a painting party, March 12, where 22 members combined creativity and fun to each produce a painting titled "Bluebonnet Field." Crystal Goodman, full time artist and instructor at Vino Dipinte, led the painting session. Goodman guides each class by suggesting which colors and brushes to use as well as the size and scope of each brushstroke. For these self-made masterpieces, the class used fast drying acrylic paints. The GCSC meets monthly for a cultural, social or educational event. "Past GCSC meetings have included square dancing, an Asian food and culture night, and bingo," said Shelly Kline, GCSC social chairperson. "We're all about fun and friendship." The GCSC is open to all Goodfellow spouses. This includes spouses of civilian employees, students and permanent party, both active duty and reserve from all services. "The current GCSC board has worked hard to increase membership and get the word out about our club. We have 44 members now, up from 11 in August of last year, an increase of 300 percent," said Natalia Radler, current GCSC president. "We'll hold elections in April for a new president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and thrift shop manager." All officers serve for one calendar year. The GCSC also runs an on-base thrift store, sometimes referred to as SAMS, Soldiers, Airman, Marines and Sailors. The thrift store is located in building 736 on Fort Phantom Hill Ave. next to the bowling alley and is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday, as well as the first and third Saturday of the month. All proceeds from the thrift store go to the Goodfellow community in the form of scholarships and donations.
