Goodfellow's School Age Program made tombstones with personalized anti-tobacco messages and posted them by the school's entrance, March 18.

The children at the School Age Program made the tombstones in light of Kick Butts Day, a nationwide event encouraging kids to speak out about tobacco use.

Their messages revealed a well-developed knowledge of how tobacco affects the health and lives of individuals. One tombstone read "Lungs start to hurt and you get very sick. Please change your life."

Thelma Pegues, School Age Program Director, said that after they finished the project, one young boy brought his mother in to see his tombstone because she is a tobacco user. He asked her to quit.

Individuals seeking ways to quit can visit www.ucanquit2.org, a Department of Defense supported site that offers 24-hour chat sessions and classes. TRICARE offers 24-hour telephone support as well.
