SAPR raises awareness with dodgeball Published Feb. 24, 2015 By Senior Airman Joshua Edwards 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, TEXAS -- The 17th Training Wing Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office hosted a dodgeball tournament at the Mathis Fitness Center, Feb. 20, where 33 teams came out to fight for victory. Goodfellow's SAPR organized the event as a method to build camaraderie and reinforce sexual assault awareness. "We just wanted to raise awareness about the SAPR program and have people come together," said Donna Casey, 17th Training Wing Sexual Assault Response Coordinator. "We want people to step up and intervene, so I think this is a great way to do it because they are working together just like we need to do to prevent sexual assault." Each team consisted of six members who worked together to advance in the double elimination tournament, but Tropic Thunder emerged triumphant after battling their way to the top. "I didn't think I'd win, but I had confidence in my team," said Amn. Taskeem A. Sunders, 312th Training Squadron student and Tropic Thunder team member. "It feels pretty good winning." SAPR also plans to educate service members during their upcoming glow walk and SARC Challenge during Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April.
