The Navy Center for Information Dominance Detachment held a change of charge ceremony at the Event Center Feb. 6.

Lt. Cmdr. Christopher M. Allen relieved Lt. Cmdr. Cornell A. Woods as officer in charge of the detachment.

Guest speaker for the event was Capt. Maureen Fox, commanding officer of CID headquarters in Pensacola, Fla.  She praised Woods and his staff on their accomplishments and welcomed Allen to the job.

"Lt. Cmdr. Woods has led this detachment to an impressive level in the military training business," said Fox. "This year the detachment will graduate more than 300 students from the Special Cryptologic and Fire Fighter Courses, having been taught skills that are critical to the mission effectiveness and efficiency of the fleet, and vital to the national intelligence effort and the security of this country. During Lt. Cmdr. Wood's leadership, CID Detachment, Goodfellow provided 33,420 hours of instruction to 720 Information Warfare students and 22,230 hours of instruction to 7,922 Joint Service and Department of Defense firefighters.  Also during his tenure, 117 Sailors were advanced to the next higher pay-grade including nine 1st class petty officers selected for chief petty officer."

Following Fox's remarks, Woods was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his exceptional performance as OIC from June 2012 to February 2015.

"I came here kicking and screaming and I am leaving the same way," said Woods.  "This has been one of the best tours of my 27-year naval career.  It was very challenging yet amazing."

As Allen assumed charge of the detachment, he acknowledged the quality of the students and staff he was inheriting.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be able to serve as the OIC of CID Detachment Goodfellow and I am excited to get in the seat," said Allen. "Lt. Cmdr. Woods and the detachment have an exemplary track record and I look forward to trying to exceed that record in the coming years".

Prior to arriving at the command, Allen served on the staff of Commander, Navy Cyber Forces as a naval information warfare officer.
Woods' next assignment will be at the Navy Information Operations Command in Honolulu, Hawaii.
