Quicker, easier over-the-counter medications Published Jan. 28, 2015 By Airman 1st Class Scott Jackson 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 17th Medical Group began providing sick packs for various symptoms to simplify the process of getting over-the-counter medications, Jan. 26. The program, Over the Counter, helps sick patients who do not need quarters get medication without seeing a provider. "The entire idea is that you can just come to the pharmacy and you can talk to me or another pharmacist on duty," said Capt. Jacob A. Mock, 17th MDG pharmacy element chief. "We can get you these medications that you would see at the Exchange for free without seeing a provider." Over the Counter is available from 7 to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday, and does not provide quarters under any circumstances. "Patients can just come to the window and ask for one of the Over the Counter slips," said Mock. "We'll talk to them and see what they need and then 10 or 15 minutes later we'll have the pack ready, and they'll be on their way." The process offers more convenience to Airmen in a rush. "I like that it takes that pressure off of doctors," said Senior Airman Yolanda J. Jackson, 17th Training Wing protocol journeyman. "I don't have to go out of my way or disrupt my schedule; I can just go get a sick pack." For more information, contact the pharmacy at 325-654-3102.
