Leadership feeds Thanksgiving crowd Published Nov. 27, 2014 By Senior Airman Joshua Edwards 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Commanders and senior enlisted leaders spent part of their Thanksgiving Day serving holiday meals at Western Winds Dining Facility Nov. 27. Leadership served retirees, service members and dependents who spent their Thanksgiving holiday away from home. "We understand the service members are away from friends and their family, and for many of them this is first time they've been away at the holidays," said 1st Sgt. Thea E. Ray, 344th Military Intelligence Battalion first sergeant. "It's a way for us to connect with them and let them know that the leadership is thinking of them during this time." Airman Jeremiah C. Dowty, 315th Training Squadron student, said he felt surprised because leadership took the time to feed everyone. "I didn't really expect Chief Good to be here serving me some delicious turkey," said Dowty. "It proves how leadership is always looking out for us." The leadership-served Thanksgiving meal is an annual tradition held across bases everywhere in an effort to boost morale for those who cannot spend the day with their families.
