San Angelo parade honors veterans Published Nov. 10, 2014 By Senior Airman Joshua Edwards 17th Training Wing Public Affairs SAN ANGELO, Texas -- The city of San Angelo hosted a Veterans Day parade featuring veterans who have served, past and present, including Goodfellow service members Nov. 10. During the event, local community members showed their support of service members, and veterans were allowed to reflect on their service. "To be a veteran, to me, means that I'm doing my part to protect the nation I love and to protect the values that so many have sacrificed before me, so that I may enjoy the freedoms that we do today," said Army Pfc. Kevin A. Stein, 344th Military Intelligence Battalion student. "Being a veteran makes me proud that I'm a part of a community of brothers and sisters that took the oath to stand up and defend this great nation." In addition to showcasing local veterans, the parade also featured the San Angelo Police and Fire Departments, local school bands and junior ROTC groups. "It was a wonderful parade," said Davina D. Deanda, parade spectator. "It's just a small thing for us to do for a big sacrifice that they do for us. I think it's wonderful that we come out here and support them." San Angelo hosts the parade annually, with many of the same organizations coming out to show their support year after year.
