Austin Knox 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The Goodfellow varsity softball team scrimmaged the Air Force softball team at the Mathis Fitness Center Softball Field, Sept. 8. En route to the Armed Forces Championships, the Air Force team stopped to challenge base teams. "We came out swinging the bat really well," said Airman 1st Class John J. Garland, Goodfellow softball team second baseman. Goodfellow played a respectable game, with the Air Force only pulling ahead in the final inning for a score of 29-21. The Armed Forces Championships are taking place Sept. 14 to 19 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. "We are going in there with the mindset of being super focused to win it all," said Air Force team coach Steve Shortland.
